Equipment provision and shared responsibility

Equipment support

The institute supplies all essential VEX parts and additional accessories needed for robot development so teams can perform at their best.

Shared responsibility

Team members share responsibility for the care of all equipment and materials the institute supplies for team use, including anything provided on a loan or rental basis. If there is intentional damage or damage that is not the result of normal use, the team is responsible for the resulting cost. The list below is illustrative only and is not exhaustive — the same policy applies to any other supplied items not named here.

  • MacBook
  • iPad
  • VEX IQ Robot Battery
  • VEX IQ Controller (2nd gen)
  • VEX IQ Robot Brain
  • VEX IQ Smart Motors
  • Pneumatic solenoid, cylinders, and air tanks

Attendance and refund policy

Absences and make-up sessions

There are no make-up sessions for absences in any case, because work is conducted as a group during class. Mentors may still provide supplementary materials and guidance when a student misses class so they can remain as competition-ready as possible.

Refunds

Refunds are considered only in the following situations:

  • Health: If a participant cannot continue and provides clear medical documentation, a partial refund may be issued for classes not yet taken.
  • Unforeseen circumstances:
    • (a) Competition cancellation: If an official competition is cancelled, eligible participants may receive a partial refund.
    • (b) Material rule changes: If competition rules change in a way that prevents the team from participating, a partial refund may be issued.
